March in Washington, DC to Protest The Federal Government's Irresponsible Runaway Spending - September 12, 2009

Dear Friend,

There will be a march in Washington, DC on Saturday, September 12, to protest recent federal government actions - runaway spending, unsustainable borrowing, trillions of dollars in debt being passed on to future generations, attempts to nationalize health care and to enact a ruinous cap-and-trade bill and the bailouts - all of which constitute an assault on individual liberty. The stakes are high and were recently well expressed by Mark Steyn:

"When governments annex a huge chunk of the economy, they also annex a huge chunk of individual liberty. You fundamentally change the relationship between the citizen and the state into something closer to that of junkie and pusher-and you make it very difficult ever to change back. Americans face a choice: They can rediscover the animating principles of the American idea-of limited government, a self-reliant citizenry, and the opportunities to exploit your talents to the fullest-or they can join most of the rest of the Western world in terminal decline. To rekindle the spark of liberty once it dies is very difficult."

I am going to DC for the march and hope you will join me. Members of Congress need to be reintroduced to the "animating principles of the American idea" and this is a great way to do it. You can learn more about the 9-12 March on Washington at www.912dc.org. And if you are a Beaufort County resident, you may want to consider taking advantage (as I have) of the travel and lodging arrangements that have been made by Kate Keep (read Kate's message below). I hope you to see you there!
